Description:
Olivia and her sibling Basil were found crying at a gas station with two other cats during the early evening on October 14. Evidently someone wanted to "clean up" their neighborhood so took four strays and dumped them at a Cocoa gas station. Luckily there are several cat rescuers who live right nearby and saw the cats and heard the kittens crying in the dark.

We were there till 10pm trying to round up the dumped cats. This was on a weeknight, we were all tired from a day of parenting / work but as is typical in rescue, we hang in there for the scared and crying kitties. None of us could just leave them till the next day without trying!

Three of the four were captured that night, we had to crawl around the dumpster to find one of the really scared adults. Another adult was hiding under an old boardwalk structure and we had to set a humane trap nearby with fishy wet food....she went in the trap pretty quick.

We could hear the kittens but not see them in the woods so we set another humane trap and caught the first kitten (Olivia).....and we reset the trap.... by morning the fourth one (Basil) was in the trap.

As it turns out, the one adult who was hiding behind the dumpster was microchipped and had a collar!!! With a little research the next day she was returned successfully to her family. They were overjoyed because she had got out of their house by mistake and they couldn't find her. They had given up because she had been gone 3 months!!!  See, a microchip is a GREAT THING!!!

A second young adult who was hiding under the boardwalk had no microchip, but was so incredibly young and sweet .... we had her vetted and she was adopted to a family within the week!

Olivia and her brother were the two kittens who were so scared & crying in the woods. They were ok being petted but were really scared by the whole experience.  We called on our best tamer to work with them and wow -- they have really settled into home life!!! The foster mom is traveling so they are now at another home thus in a cage until they get used to the routine. (that is why their pictures show them in a cage)

Olivia is a DMH (medium hair) and Basil is short hair. Both are friendly and sweet. They are with their buddy Rachel in foster care, she is also listed on our website.
