Online Cat Adoption Application
Adoption Policy
Applying for adoption does NOT necessarily guarantee that you will be approved.
Please allow 2-5 business days for your application to be thoroughly processed by one of our Foster Moms. Most of Our Foster Moms work in addition to helping with PAWS. The application process will proceed more quickly if you give us a valid email address. We prefer email, as we find it more efficient and appropriate --- it allows us to provide informational websites, additional information, and it accommodates our Foster Mother’s work schedules.
If the animals are listed on our website they are still available. If an animal has an adoption pending it will state that in their description. Once adopted, the animal will no longer be listed.
The adoption of a cat or kitten is not a trivial matter. We take our work very seriously, and we want to be certain our animals are placed in a loving, caring, appropriate environment. While we cannot guarantee the future health of our animals, they have received medical attention from a licensed veterinarian. All our felines are spayed or neutered before adoption (this is Brevard County law). They are vaccinated according to age (young kittens cannot receive a Rabies Vaccine). All are tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDS (FIV). They are also wormed and treated for fleas, and some are even micro-chipped.
Our animals have been cared for in a home environment and are therefore socialized and used to being in a home and around people. A typical shelter animal, which has been living in a cage or kennel, may be stressed and/or become sick from their environment, and may lack socialization and possibly interaction skills. We take care of these animals as though they were our own. Some of them have lived with us for quite some time. Some, especially small, motherless kittens, we have hand-raised, bottle fed and some we have literally saved from near death illness or life-threatening situations. PAWS volunteers are very good at matching your lifestyle with a kitty that would be the best fit. Because we have had most of these kitties running loose in our own homes, we know them well. Ask which one would best fit your home! Naturally we are attached to them and, as a result, we want to be sure they are going to a good home where they can be happy.
Caring for an animal costs money. We provide all food, bedding, litter, medical care, etc that they require; thus, we do charge a $75 donation fee for the adoption of our animals, which usually doesn’t cover the entire cost of the care they have been given.
