Shemar is a grey tabby Maine Coon mix male.  Since he was rescued from a high kill shelter as an intact adult we don't know for sure his age.  He is guessed to be born in 2010-2011.  While he may look alittle like a scottish fold he isn't.  His ears are a lasting scar of his life on the streets.  Having an untreated earmite/ear infection has left them permantly scared down into the flipped over position you see.  Also a lasting scar of his life on the streets is his FIV infection.  Shemar is FIV positive.  FIV positive cats can have a normal life span and die of causes unrelated to FIV.  FIV is spread to cats only and is not contagious to humans or other animals.  FIV is spread through aggressive fighting such as bite wounds and is not spread through causal contact such as grooming each other, sharing food and water dishes and litterboxes.  He gets along with cats and dogs and nothing seems to phase him.  He's a chill laid back cat, so friendly and enjoys attention.  He would do well in any home.  He loves to just lay in your lap to cuddle.  If you are intersted in Shemar please complete an applicationon our www.pawsfla.com website.  If you have questions about FIV please email Tina at tropicllc@msn.com

All cats/kittens available for adoption have been examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated appropriately for their age, tested for feline Leukemia and AIDS, are neutered or spayed, microchipped and are free of internal and external parasites.  The standard adoption fee is $75.
