Description: This absolute cutie was found on the street with a wire twisted around her front leg! AND a wire wrapped around her neck! (we originally heard it was a string, but we found out, no, it was wire).. Thank God she was found in time, she would not have survived with the wire, it was already too tight in both places.
We found her sister but it was too late for her. They were nursing under a home that must have alot of wire underneath where the momcat is nursing. Very sad :( (it is so narrow a child had to go underneath and pull out the kittens)
Right now the key is Bonnie is doing great in foster care since June 3, and we are hoping the leg heals on its own - it was dangling uselessly but is better now.....
She is playing and using the leg so that's REALLY good!
She is very young and has not been fixed yet and we will keep posting updates here as we know more from the vet about her leg. Her next vet appointment is June 18. RESULTS: the split is working! Her leg is better! Yayyy! See her pictures of the leg and it being re-wrapped, she was such a good girl at the vet. The vet thinks her last day with splints is going to be June 30. Thank goodness for the kind vets at Palm Bay Animal Clinic!
From the foster mom June 24: Bonnie's leg continues to improve! She's putting weight on the foot without the splint, but with a limp. Dr. Jen repositioned the splint, hoping the leg will continue to straighten out. Next week, she's inclined to remove the splint, since it looks like the muscles in the lower leg have atrophied somewhat. Though Bonnie's gait may never be normal, Dr. Jen doesn't think the leg will have to be amputated.
