Description:
This sweet little guy was at the county shelter. He was found Feb 13 by an animal control officer, and did his 5 business days "stray time" at the shelter. The whole time we were concerned because we knew he had a broken bone in his leg but he still had to sit there with no treatment till his stray time was up. Despite a pink rhinestone collar, no one came to get him.
We took him immediately for xrays - he is barely using his right back leg. Our vet said the fracture is in the right rear knee, the growth plate itself. This means the leg may never grow more. We are hopeful it will!! The vet agreed calcium would be helpful and to keep him quiet for 2 more weeks. The injury looked about 2 weeks old already and it is healing. The vet wants to recheck in 2 weeks.
In the pictures Pierre had just got here and is a little stressed so his eyes are dilated. He is a very sweet boy who loves to be held and purrs up a storm.
Update Feb 25: this little guy is playing up a storm in his cage - we hope the calcium is healing his growth plate and that his leg continues to grow. Even if it doesn't, he's almost grown...but we will continue to hope and pray! This is the friendliest little guy we've had in a long time, he loves to be held. He is also very gentle when he plays and bats at things, his claws are not extended, so he would be great with kids.
