This nice guy was dropped at the county shelter as a stray with no info. He is very sweet, loves to be carried around, and was born in June, his adult fangs are just now coming in so that is the milestone at 5-1/2 months.
The shelter named him "Honey" - that seems like a girl's name so we renamed him Clancy which sounds more masculine and sophisticated!
He needs a more thorough brushing but we wanted to get his pictures out on the web ASAP. He is a stunner and a darker red color which is one of the more rare orange colors. His tabby markings are the thin stripes so he's a mackerel tabby.
See his huge plumey tail - he's more like a long haired cat than a medium, he really has quite the coat. His coat is a little coarse which is probably diet related. He may end up being silky & more like a Norwegian Forest Cat.
He had obviously been on the street, we removed a sandspur from his tail and he had earmites which we are now treating. The vet has checked him out and given him a Rabies Vaccine, so he's ready to go!
Clancy was a good model for his first pictures, considering he had been here about 15 minutes, had his fur brushed and mats removed, and his ears cleaned and an earmite treatment...all in a room with about 10 cats he doesn't know!! He's very good natured.
The vet also mentioned that he could need brushing and combing - he seems to be one of those cats who just doesn't groom thoroughly. He's not sick but his coat shows a lack of grooming. We haven't seen him groom so this is likely the case. Hopefully he'll get a home with another cat who loves to groom cats!!
