Description:

This extremely sweet and tolerant girl was dumped at the county shelter with no information on November 8. She was held the required 5 days for stray time and lucky for her we had one spot because when we got the call, we had just adopted out one!

The shelter says she is 2-3 years and spayed. We are working to get her a rabies vaccine, that's all she lacks, she's had her dewormer, flea meds, and distemper shot. She was also tested for Feline Leuk and FIV, and she was negative! So, other than the rabies vaccine she is ready to go.

She was very matted around her neck. We will upload the video ASAP of her just sitting still while complete strangers were shaving her and combing her out. It was amazing. how calm she was, especially after 5 days in the county shelter. When we combed out her armpits, groin and "bikini" area, she actually enjoyed it so we know she was well groomed daily, until just lately.

There was zero flea dirt on her, and her ears are spotless. She is a non-peke meaning she has almost a normal nose (for a Persian)!  She does not snore or snort, and has no eye discharge - she has a very clean face.

Her beautiful (fuzzy!) coat is solid jet black so she has not been in the sun for it to redden. She was a well kept little girl.

When we carried her to her cage after her combing and shaving, she just laid her little head on my shoulder. She's used to being held and carried. She had only known me for 15 minutes and I am the one who yanked on her matted fur and shaved her, and she was still that tolerant to let me carry her across the foster room filled with strange cats - amazing.

She has not hissed even once. The dog was checking out her crate and she was good about that too!

Serious adopters only, these purebred Persians are *the* highest maintenance cat - because they are a manmade breed, the Persian did not naturally evolve with all this fur, so it is up to its owners to make sure the fur is combed deeply and thoroughly every day, sometimes twice a day. Especially armpits, neck, groin, and rear feathers. Owning a Persian is more of a commitment - Persians are not the best "first cats" for someone who has never owned a cat, due to the work involved for the human!!!

UPDATE -- Leah now has a rabies vaccine and is microchipped, and ready to go! We found some more mats under her chin and are shaving a little each day. So far we have shaved enough to equal another cat and we've only shaved her neck area. Unbelievable!

And as usual she is sweet thru it all. She likes to be carried around.

The vet who did her rabies vaccine confirmed she is young, 2-3 years old. I think she's closer to 2 because her teeth are absolutely pearly white and typically by age 3 they start to show stain, and hers are free of stain.

UPDATE Nov 20: we took her to the groomer, who said most of the thick fur was her undercoat which had not been combed out as needed. She now has a normal thickness coat, and looks great (and I'm sure she feels much better too).
