Background Story: Both Aphrodite and her brother Hercules (we were told they are brother and sister) were abandoned by a college student after 2012 graduation. They were rescued from deplorable conditions with limited food and no litter box. They had fleas and had some flea bumps, those are slowly fading now that they have good flea treatment. Their eyes were very dirty! Plus, their previous owners shaved them from head to toe due to the fleas, which we all know really doesn't help.. Both were very hungry and need to be put on quality cat food. The vet said they are very healty, considering...luckily a foster mom stepped in at the right time!!! (she actually had to pay for them from a Craisglist ad to save them...what a great foster mom, huh?)
The foster mom is cleaning these two kitties up: applying flea meds, cleaning their eyes, shaving their matted fur, and they will be fully vetted (tested / fixed / vaccinated) on June 20.
Their pictures right now show the "before" - just wait, we will get some "after" pictures!
Note: Hercules' eye is not swollen in the 2nd picture, it is a blurry photo. Our new pictures make his coat look neon orange however we are working on more pictures that correctly show his color - stand by!
We decided on this name because he was able to move 15lbs of Cat Litter and weights! He is the strongest cat I've ever met, but very good natured. Hercules can be very shy at first; however, once he gets to know you, he is extremely affectionate and friendly. But don't confuse his shyness with his bravery. Like the legendary Hercules, this Persian is very Brave. He loves to explore his new surroundings and just need an encouraging and gentle owner.
This dynamic duo very much needs to stay together. They compliment each other in so many ways. While Hercules is more introverted and shy, Aphrodite is super outgoing and trusting. She brings out the trusting side of Hercules while he brings out the adventurous side of Aphrodite. Both are extremely quiet cats are quite content living with other cats, small dogs, and small animals. Even though I don't have children, I would trust these guys around kids because they have not showed an ounce of aggression despite the terrible condition they've arrived in. I would not recommend a dog over 20 lbs because they are terrified of large dogs. I've kept my large 65lb dog mostly separate from them, but even her deep barking causes them to cower and hide. I feel that a home with a large dog would greatly diminish their quality of living.
