PAWS adopts out kittens in pairs, or adopts to a home with another young kitty (3 yrs or so). Applications for single kittens will not be considered, and due to the number of kittens in 2021* we will not be able to respond if you request a single kitten only.

*due to COVID & lack of spay/neuter in 2020, rescues are slammed with kittens.

Here is why we adopt in pairs -- this is the best article we have found to explain:

HERE IS THE BIO FOR ZOEY:

We always try to tell the full story of where the kittens came from. So, here we go...

We got a phone call from a big apartment complex in Cocoa about this litter. We could hear the kittens meowing in the background during the call. Mom cat is feral and had "stashed" her kittens in a car bumper (the car was rarely driven).

So we took 2 traps, set up the kittens in one, to lure mom to the other trap. We wanted to catch her & let her nurse them, then get her fixed.  Momcats typically will go in pretty quick (within an hour) to see their crying babies.  This momcat paced around a few minutes and took off. She immediately disassociated with her litter and would not go in the trap for them.  :(

We took the kittens in on Apr 23, and determined they were 3.5 weeks old, as their ears were almost - but not quite - fully standing up. Just the tips were still folded down.

The kittens had not yet been taught to fear humans, so they are adapting to life indoors and doing great, starting to eat canned food on their own already.

A new foster mom stepped up, and she's a graphic designer, and we love what she did with the photos!  How cute are these!!!

Note these babies will be ready to go appx the first week of June, if they grow at an average rate.

Their personality is starting to come out. Zoey is still very clingy and seems terrified of being abandoned. Once she is settled, though, she is the sweetest thing.

Update on her personality: Zoey is emerging as the more cerebral of the three and the foster mom is pretty sure she's the smartest. She tends to sit back and observe then run and strike her playing siblings when their guard is down!  She likes to wander the floor and explore invisible things and poke her nose into corners. All of them like the crinkly mylar balls.
