Darcy was found dumped on the street in Titusville, FL. She was there about 2 months eating with feral cats then finally approached the nice human for affection! She was taken to a spay/neuter clinic - already spayed! No microchip.
Due to her being so sweet, PAWS took her into foster care instead of letting her be re-released into the colony.
Darcy loves attention. We've noticed she does best on Iams brand food. Purina brands give her loose stool.
UPDATE: We talked to the original person who rescued her, and found out Darcy had a huge scratch on her nose when she was first seen at the feral colony. In foster care, we've noticed Darcy does not like being in a crate (we put her in one to clean her cage while she was on antibiotics), and she banged her nose up on the door! So that's why her nose was so messy when we got her, she had banged it on the carrier from her rescue, too.
12 hours after we began her antibiotics, and it was vastly improved. It took a few weeks, but now all 3 cuts you can see in the photo are healed and most of the fur is growing back....finally. We talked to the vet again, and agreed it was a combination of the deep cuts, plus her banging against the crate door, which caused the damage. The fur may take months to grow back fully; or if there is too much scar tissue it may not all come back.
Darcy would prefer a home where she is queen kitty; we've noticed she is overgrooming and it's most likely due to stress of being in a foster area with other animals. We've seen she does fine with just one other cat as long as she has her "space".
