Description:
Ember and his buddy Smokey were given up because the rent was so high due to having cats. They have been together all their lives so we are hoping to place them as a pair. They have not yet been around children or dogs, or other cats...so they would need to be introduced properly.
At this point they by themselves in a large bathroom.... until they learn the routine in the foster rooms. Both of them are OK being petted and are not hissing, but at first they were understandably a little timid because suddenly a strange person is taking care of them in a new home with other animals.
We have given them both a dose of Arnica for trauma and have added Bachs Rescue Remedy to their water. We're petting them and talking to them every few hours so they feel welcome. Ember is the quickest to come around, Smokey is taking longer, which is what the previous owner told us would happen. Poor guys had to get tested (they are neg/neg) and a vaccine so they aren't very enamoured of their foster mom right now! Plus flea meds.
UPDATE: They are doing great! Smokey took about 5 days to trust us; Ember only took 2 days. Ember likes to play in the water bowl so a towel under the bowl is definitely needed!
These guys are now completely relaxed in the master bath and are looking out the door as if they are ready to check out the rest of the place. Awesome cats!
