Description:

This cutie is a PUREBRED Bengal - he has a stunning coat!  And what a purr-fect name for a Bengal ... Dash!  We do not know what generation he is.

PLEASE note Bengals are very athletic and active cats - their heritage is from a small Asian Leopard and a domestic cat. So he will need a home with a lot of space.

Dash is fine with older gentle dogs ...but he wasn't too sure when he met a hyper puppy!

His original family could not keep him because he was far too active for their 5-year-old laid-back Ragdoll.  The family ended up separating the cats. In this first home he was with two children: a 6-year-old and a 16-year-old.

His second home we chose because we figured the activity would be enough for him - 3 cats, 4 children ages 8-16, a stay-at-home mom.... plenty of room in the home to romp and play....fast forward a few weeks, and now the 3 original cats are very unhappy, one spends all day burrowed in a box spring and has been beat up by Dash around the face and head badly (all surface scratches, no biting).

So....

We know Dash is stunning. However he has lost TWO HOMES because of aggressive play toward non-Bengal cats, which is a well-documented issue with Bengals. They are like the ADHD cat.  Dash needs a Bengal or a home to himself, because he is too rough ... Bengal Rescue tells us he would likely do OK with a playful dog.

Here is a partial list of what he does at his current home:
- unplugs nightlights, phone chargers, scented plug-ins
(the scented ones worry me because what if he ingests something?)
- plays with the water filtration unit on the kitchen counter
(yes he likes to push the button on top constantly)
- plays in his water bowl especially if ice is added
(slipping hazard)
- rides on the back of one of the teenagers in the home
(he jumps right up and will ride along as long as they will let him)
- jumps up to the decorative/architectural recessed shelves 12 feet up
- plays rough with his humans (goes after ankles and hands) with slight biting
- very vocal, especially while you are bathing and will "visit" you in the shower
- crawls in the fridge (see pic)!!
- can open doors (flat handle doorknobs)

Dash is on a special prescription gastrointestinal diet. This must be continued. He also has severe vaccine reactions so you would need to coordinate closely with your vet before vaccinating. This is common for Bengals.

PLEASE do your research before you submit an application. Dash is stunning but he also requires more than the normal cat household. And he requires SPACE, shelves and/or multiple climbers, toys to engage him, etc.

We will be coordinating with the Bengal Rescue of Florida to choose Dash's next home because we want to ensure it is the right environment, and will be the last time Dash has to rehome.

If you believe your home is right for Dash, please submit an application by going to www.pawsfla.com and click on Adoption Policy; the application for cats is a link at the top of the page. It is an online application so there is no need to print and fax. YOUR APP MUST BE COMPLETE.  (If you have non-Bengal cats, we will not be able to process your application ...if you have already applied please do not apply a 2nd time)

We will be going through applications and choosing the top 5 to review with the Bengal Rescue folks. This takes coordination and TIME. We MUST be thorough; we want this to be his FINAL home!!!

Be patient... if you submit an application, we will be in touch. Last time it took us 6 weeks to sift through all the applications (we got MANY of them) and coordinate with Bengal Rescue for their input. None of the homes worked out :(
