Description:
This sweetie was begging at a door for food, and the nice people were feeding him every day. They contacted rescue so he could have a good home off the streets!

He is adjusting to life indoors and we are working with him to show him how great humans are and how wonderful living inside is....

Vinnie has now been tested, fixed and vaccinated.

Vinnie is still learning about living indoors. He is shy for a day or two with new people (we recently went on vacation and our housesitter let us know it took him a couple days to warm up to her).  He is so cute, we are probably going to adopt him out before he learns everything about living indoors. Plus he will have to adjust to a new home and routine anyway, so it will be up to his adopter to continue his education.....he is not yet a kitty that you can just drop into a room and expect him to be immediately comfortable...those months on the street taught him to be wary.

Adopters must expect to spend time making sure he is comfortable with his surroundings. This would mean to start him in a small room such as a bathroom (not a bedroom with a bed he can hide so far under that you have to dismantle it and scare him senseless in the process.... After he trusts his new owners, then carry him around and sweet talk him and show him things that are not found on the street - like lamps, tables, couches, chairs, tv's, phones ringing, kitchen chairs, you name it. Please be sure he knows the washer and dryer are off limits too!!!

In his foster home, Vinnie is doing great, he is venturing out of the guest bathroom where he and Leonard have been hanging out, and is checking out the house. He chased the laser pointer for the first time, so we are working hard to break him out of his "shy" shell!!  Vinnie would do best in a quiet home, with no young children, since he is so skittish.

UPDATE: Vinnie has had some loose stool despite 2 rounds of dewormer. We have changed his food to a high-fiber diet and he is cleared up now. He will likely grow out o the need for this prescription food, but we will confirm with our vet.

If you are interested in Vinnie, please fill out the online adoption application. The application can be filled out online (no paper needed) at www.pawsfla.com under Adoption Policy menu.
